Cultivating Christian Character:  The destiny of every believer is Christlikeness, but everything about the sinful world around us works to derail the believer’s journey.  Worse yet, believers are frequently their own worst enemies.  This is not a 2018 problem.  The Apostle Peter saw it soon after the resurrection of Christ and warned the first century church that religious pluralism and an immoral cultural were leading to spiritual corruption.  Believers needed to be established in their knowledge of Christ.  His message resonates today.  In 2 Peter 1, the Apostle outlines what a believer must do to cultivate his/her Christian character.  Taught by  Kevin Altman who explored the essential virtues all Christians must cultivate to develop greater Christlikeness.

Jesus in the Old Testament:  “And beginning with Moses and all the Prophets, Jesus interpreted to them in all the Scriptures the things concerning himself.” (Lk 24:27) Wow! I thought that the Old Testament was all about the wrath of God. But Jesus told His disciples that the Old Testament was all about Him! Join the fellowship hall adult bible study class on Sunday mornings as we see Jesus in all of the Old Testament. This will be a study through both familiar and unfamiliar passages of the Old Testament. There will be opportunities in each class for questions and discussion. The class is led by Nigel Brown.

ECCLESIASTES – A Life Well Lived:  The book of Ecclesiastes captures the essence of life from man’s point of view but more importantly, God’s. It confronts us with the meaning of life and more specifically with tremendously practical issues such as the purpose of money, living righteously in a chaotic world and staying poised in our faith toward God when doing the right thing isn’t rewarded by the world and how to live without constant regrets. You are invited to join the Adult Fellowship Hall class as Sean Kyzar leads us through this DVD study from Tommy Nelson ministries.

Race, Culture, Ethnicity (RaCE) & the Church: This series will cover a momentous issue in the world today. What does the Word of God say about race, culture and ethnicity (RaCE) both outside of the church (left kingdom) and in the spiritual body of the church (right kingdom)? What obligations do we have individually or nationally and as a church body, toward such realities? Please join us for this series which has been designed and developed over the past year and will no doubt garner considerable discussion. The class will be held on Sunday mornings in the Fellowship Hall and is facilitated by Thom Rake.

The Practical Christian Life: Living in the Two Kingdoms: Christians find themselves in the contexts of marriage, family, government and the church, sometimes in one context alone and at other times, simultaneously. The challenge for the believer is to know how, when and where God’s Word applies to these contexts which Martin Luther identified as the two kingdoms. Do we always obey government or parents? Where does authority begin and end, whether ours or other’s? Does the church reign supreme in every area of life? Please join the adult fellowship hall Sunday school class as we walk through a study on how to practically live out our faith in the two kingdoms. The class will be taught by Thom Rake.

Ask, Seek Knock:  Praying is an essential element in the life of a believer. It is not merely grace at the table or moments of desperation in which prayer was intended rather, God gave us prayer that we may communicate to him the needs we have, here on earth, just as our Lord Jesus, God himself, did. Thus, we must learn about it that we may engage in it wisely and in accordance with God’s plan because he has promised us he hears and answers. Please join Harley Hammond as he leads a three week study on prayer in the Adult Fellowship Hall Sunday school class from 5 Jan – 19 Jan.
