The View from the Pulpit:

Dear Fellow “Family Members” of Resurrection,

A  SPECIAL  REQUEST  FROM  PASTOR  HANK, DCE  ANN  EZELL, & the STAFF at RESURRECTION

About 100 years ago, someone asked the great preacher Dr. Charles Spurgeon the secret of his overwhelming success as a pastor.  Gesturing toward the “Prayer Room” of the Metropolitan Tabernacle, he answered, “My people pray for me!”

Over and over again in the Epistles, the Apostle Paul exhorted his readers to PRAY for him!

We, the Called Staff, the Office Staff, and our School Staff would like to ask each of you at Resurrection to PRAY FOR US – to pray daily for your pastors, your DCE/School Administrator, your School Staff, your Office Staff.  Your prayer can make all the difference in the world for our ministries in and through our church.

Would you do Pastor Hank, DCE Ann Ezell, Mr. Rich Peltz, Ms. Ann Wahlstrom, Mrs. Enid Jackson, Mrs. Susan Deck, Mrs. Marsha Snyder, Ms. Sandra Steuck, Mrs. Robin Snider, Mrs. Ruth Cooper, Ms. Mary Wahlstrom, Ms. Katie Dail, Mr. Matthew Uenking, and Mrs. Carol Baugham the honor and privilege of specifically asking the Lord the following:

1)    That God would grant us a growing love for Him and His Word;

2)    That God would give us physical health and strength, moral convictions and

spiritual power to faithfully proclaim His Word;

3)    That God would give us wisdom in all decisions that have to be made;

4)    That God would bind the Satanic forces which attack and tempt us as spiritual leaders;

5)    That God would bless us with the continuing power of the Holy Spirit to preach, teach, lead, and oversee the mission and ministry of Resurrection Lutheran Church & School;

6)    That God would give us a genuine love for all people (even our enemies!);

7)    That God would lead us to give glory to Him alone in all that we say, do, or think;

8)    that God would bless our families, that they might grow in faith and love, and be a model for all who observe our lives;

9)    that God would keep us from discouragement, frustration, guilt, fatigue and give us a sensitive heart of love.

Your prayers make a difference! – and they certainly make a difference in the mission and ministry of our Resurrection Lutheran Church & School Staff!  Our Church staff seeks to remember you in their prayers – so please, may all of us at Resurrection seek to do the Lord’s will in this place!

“And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds  of prayers and requests.  With this mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.”

[Ephesians 6:18]

A  GENTLE  REMINDER:

Please  Help Resurrection Serve  You  Better

Please help us minister to you better!  None of the Peninsula hospitals, the military hospitals, or the Southside hospitals will contact the church office to let us know that you have been hospitalized.  This has been in effect for many years, and was brought about on the basis of patient confidentiality.  Compounding the problem is that a majority of surgeries are now done on an “outpatient basis.”  Often members are in and out of the hospital before the pastors or Elders even know it!  So that our church staff can provide pastoral care, we would appreciate your taking the initiative to let the pastors or the church office know about any hospitalization (pre-scheduled or not) of you or a family member.  Also, if you are hospitalized, the patient must specifically ask their health care team members (nurses, physicians, chaplains, etc.) to call the pastor or church.  If one of our parish family members is admitted to a out-of-town hospital, Resurrection will contact a local Lutheran pastor to provide pastoral care to such patients.  If you prefer not to have visits, we always honor that request!  However, if so notified, the church staff can remember you and your needs in private prayers.  Thank you for your assistance in this matter!
