THE REV. WILLIAM H. (HANK) HOLLAR, JR
William H. (Hank) Hollar, Jr., was born on January 2, 1952, in Ashveille, NC, to William, Sr., and Dorothy Hollar. The eldest of three sons, he was reared in Asheville and was baptized and confirmed at Emmanuel Lutheran Church (Asheville). Pastor Hollar attended the University of North Carolina, St. John's College (Winfield, KS, A.A. in 1973), and Concordia Senior College (Ft. Wayne, IN) from which he was graduated with a B.A. in 1975. He received his Master of Divinity degree from Concordia Theological Seminary (Ft. Wayne) in 1979.

Pastor Hollar's first call came from Holy Cross (Tuscaloosa, AL), where he had also vicared. After ordination at Emmanuel (Asheville) on June 14, 1979, he was installed at Holy Cross and remained there until he received the call to serve Immanuel Lutheran Church, Charlottesville, VA, in 1989. He served Immanuel until he accepted the call to become pastor of Resurrection Lutheran Church, Newport News, VA, in 1992. Active in both the Southern District and the Southeastern District of the LCMS, Pastor Hollar has been chairman of his pastoral circuit, circuit secretary, and Circuit Counselor. He has served on various boards and committees in both Districts. He was a counselor to the Gulf States District of the LWML, Zone 2. He served as a delegate to the 56th Regular Convention of the LCMS (Indianapolis, IN) in 1986.

Pastor Hollar has also been active in the communities in which he and his family have lived, serving on the Boards of Directors of the Kiwanis Club of Tuscaloosa, Preserve-A-Life of Tuscaloosa, Temporary Emergency Services (Tuscaloosa) and Alliance for Inter-Faith Ministries (Charlottesville). He was a member of the Mayor's Task Force on Child Support Payments, West Alabama Special Olympics, AIDS Coalition for Public Health, and United Way. He has also cooperated in radio ministries in both Tuscaloosa, AL, and Charlottesville, VA, and has been active in ministerial associations in both communities.

Hank Hollar and Rita Ann Hendrix were married on June 9, 1973. Their marriage has been blessed with two sons, Jason and Jeff. Rita is a trained medical office technician, has taught in the Holy Cross (Tuscaloosa) Daycare ministry, and has been a Teacher's Aide in the Albemarle County Public Schools.
