Mission Statement:
To seek out and offer a friendly welcome to all Guests at the worship services and education endeavors at Resurrection Lutheran Church, assisting them in any way possible; and to greet members of Resurrection as they arrive for worship and/or the Sunday Education Hour.
Duties and Responsibilities - A Greeter at Resurrection Lutheran Church and School shall:
-
Be faithful in worship and communion attendance, and at Bible Study.
-
Be trained for this important ministry function.
-
Be stationed and ready to serve no later than 7:40 am (Early Service), 9:15 am (Middle Service) and 10:40 am (Late Service).
-
Ensure that the Guest Register, pen(s), gold crosses and coffee mugs are out and ready for use.
-
Be identified with a nametag and/or other appropriate designation.
-
Understand that greeting and welcoming Guests to worship or the education hour is the first priority, thus not allowing your time to be monopolized by members.
-
As each Guest(s) arrives, a handshake is appropriate. If you are not sure if a person is a Guest or a member of Resurrection, below is a suggested opening greeting to help break the ice: “Hello, my name is ….. I don’t think we have met.”
-
Be familiar with the location of facilities and services available, i.e., nursery, coat-racks, bathrooms, fellowship areas, etc., and offer to assist in any way possible.
-
Give to each Church Guest an attachable Gold Cross to place on their clothes, preferably on the lapel or collar so that other members of Resurrection may also identify them as Guests.
-
Try to secure the necessary information on the Guest Pad from the Church Guest(s) / Family (names, address, phone number, etc.).
-
After greeting the Church Guest(s), take the Guest and/or family and introduce them to an usher, who will seat them.
-
Leave the Worship Service during the Recessional Hymn and resume the designated position for Greeter responsibilities.
-
As the Church Guest(s) leaves the worship service and passes by the Guest Stand, please hand them a Resurrection Coffee Mug as our remembrance to them. If the Guest(s) did not sign the Guest Register as he/she/they entered, please try and secure the information at this time.
-
Take an active interest in greeting Church Guest(s) when not on formal duty, and encourage fellow members to do the same.
-
Be alert to any improvements in greeting our guests, and offer these suggestions to the Greeter Coordinator.
-
Assist the Greeter Coordinator in reviewing the Greeters Ministry.
-
Be responsible for securing a substitute when you are not able to serve, and for notifying the Church Office as soon as possible with the name of the substitute greeter.
