The Board of Elders (BOE)

Mission Statement: To provide effective spiritual leadership for the church. Assist each worshiper at Resurrection to grow in their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; to support them in every way possible in their spiritual and physical well being so that all are equipped and encouraged to share God's love.

Elder Zones

To support our Mission Statement to assist all worshipers in their spiritual and physical well-being each Elder is primarily available for individuals based on the first letter of their last name.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Members of the Board of Elders are required to have acquired a minimum of 1 year of membership at RLC prior to election to the Board of Elders (BOE).

  2. Members of the BOE shall be noted for their Christian maturity, knowledge and experiences in the spiritual work of the Kingdom of Christ as described in I Timothy 3:1-10.

  3. The BOE shall assist the Pastor(s) in shepherding the spiritual, physical and emotional welfare of the families assigned to their zone, through a ministry of presence, concern, and care, seeking to help each family member grow in their discipleship so that they willingly share God's love.

  4. The BOE shall have an on-going concern for all pastors and staff members and their families, being sensitive to their often unique needs and concerns.

  5. The Board shall cultivate Christian care and concern among the membership and seek conservation of members and their families.

  6. The BOE shall work, in conjunction with the Worship Committee, always seeking excellence in all worship endeavors, and assuring that all materials used and sermons shared are in accord with the doctrinal standard of the Lutheran Confessions.

  7. The Board shall perform an annual Performance and Salary Review for all called and contracted employees of the congregation (Pastors, Secretaries, Music Director, DCE, etc.). The results of the review shall be discussed personally with each individual. The interview shall be conducted by at least two members of the BOE.

  8. The Chairman of the BOE shall be elected separately by the voters. He shall be responsible for representing the Board at all functions (RCC, etc.) requiring a BOE representative, or see that proper representation is provided.

  9. Regular meetings shall be held as required to accomplish the Mission Statement, goals and responsibilities of the BOE.

  10. Submits board meeting minutes to the Parish Administrator for file. Posts minutes to bulletin board outside fellowship hall.

  11. The length of the term of office for the BOE shall be 1 year. Each member of the BOE shall be permitted to serve three (3) consecutive terms of office.
