Board of Stewardship and Finance (BOSF)

Mission Statement: To educate and motivate members of RLC&S to understand their role as caretakers of God’s creation and as stewards of the resources with which God has blessed them.

Objectives:

  1. To educate the members of the congregation in Christian Stewardship, and initiate programs for the development of good stewardship attitudes in the congregation.
  2. To develop a yearly program that emphasizes both the objectives and goals of Resurrection's mission and stresses individual commitments of "first-fruit gifts" of time, talents, and treasures to carry out that mission.
  3. To monitor and report the time/talents/financial performance of the congregation.
  4. To prepare and present an annual proposed budget to the Church Council for adoption at a Voters' Meeting.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Encourages members of the congregation of all ages to proportionate Biblical stewardship; determine the proportion of congregational income to be committed to LCMS mission support and benevolence.
  2. Authorizes appropriate extra-budgetary appeals and fund raising events for the congregation from sources both inside and outside of the congregation.
  3. Organizes and plans stewardship activities and programs with emphasis on grace giving. Distribute yearly time and talent sheets to members, assimilate the data and provide the names to the various Church committees.
  4. Promotes a strong stewardship consciousness and the grace of proportionate giving in the congregation.
  5. Develops, maintains, and communicates/explains the church’s stewardship program, program offering envelopes, and other materials as required for a successful program.
  6. Keeps the congregation well-informed about the financial condition of the congregation and do what is necessary to keep the church’s financial affairs in good order.
  7. Works closely with the Church Council and individual boards in preparing and presenting the church’s annual budget to the congregation for adoption and approval.
  8. Submits board meeting minutes to the Parish Administrator for file. Posts minutes to bulletin board outside fellowship hall.
