Board of Trustees (BOT)

Mission Statement: To maintain, repair and improve the physical properties and grounds of Resurrection Lutheran Church and School.

Objectives:

  1. Maintain the proper maintenance and repair of all church property;
  2. Protect the congregation against loss or damage of any nature;
  3. Establish procedures for using any church facilities and/or property.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Administers all property belonging to the congregation and shall see that it is kept in good condition and safeguarded against loss and damage. Ensures that repairs, replacements, and improvements are effected properly and promptly.
  2. Provides a written annual report upon the insurance of the property of the congregation.
  3. Makes recommendations with regard to the property of the congregation.
  4. Makes annual inspections of all property and reports the findings to the Church Council and the congregation at Voters Meetings.
  5. Shall be responsible for the purchasing of necessary maintenance and janitorial supplies and equipment.
  6. Shall engage a custodian, specify duties, and supervise work performance.
  7. Prepares “House Rules” for the church, and arranges for the enforcement of such rules so the church may at al times present a neat and orderly appearance.
  8. Holds meetings once a month to carry out their mission, duties, and responsibilities and report to the church council. Written meeting minutes are required.
  9. Submits board meeting minutes to the Parish Administrator for file. Posts minutes to bulletin board outside fellowship hall.
  10. Exercises authority authorized to conduct an emergency repair. An “emergency repair” is defined as a situation that if not immediately corrected would result in risk to life or property. As soon as practical, the President and Treasurer are to be notified and the expenditure is to be reported at the next Church Council meeting.
  11. Maintains all church buildings and premises including equipment and furnishings;
  12. Maintains records of RLC physical assets, maintenance performed on assets, and estimated replacement dates;
  13. Informs the congregation of the condition of church facilities, including deterioration and damage, and recommends maintenance, replacement and new purchases for the facilities as needed;
  14. Recommends guidelines for use, usage fees, and/or restrictions on the use of congregational facilities by outside groups to the council;
  15. Directs the activities including cleaning and minor maintenance of church facilities and the ordering of supplies;
  16. Organizes and encourages congregational participation in cleaning, maintenance and improvement projects for the church;
  17. Performs minor maintenance tasks as required.
  18. Investigates and reports major maintenance needs to the council.
  19. Contacts professional services for major needs covered in budget.
  20. Coordinates the activities of outside services including snow removal, landscaping and trash pickup, periodically requesting quotations/bids to ensure competitive pricing;
  21. Serves as the main contact regarding major maintenance and repair needs of the “Blume House”.
  22. Ensures fire and safety inspections are conducted at least annually, with the assistance of the local fire department;
  23. Inspects the premises regularly with a view to sound maintenance, safety, accessibility, insurance, and building code compliance.
  24. Serves as focal point for Lawn and Garden Ministry and be responsible for all aspects of this ministry including, but not limited to, securing and maintaining ministry equipment, training ministry participants on the safety and proper use of ministry equipment, assembling teams for ministry, scheduling teams, and ministry duties and responsibilities.
