ADVENT  MIDWEEK  SERVICES  +

The Advent Midweek Services will conclude this Wednesday, December 19th. The Service begins at 7:00 pm, and will be preceded by a Fellowship Meal beginning at 5:45-6:30 PM.  It is important that ALL who plan to attend the Fellowship Meals please sign up on the Fellowship Board in the Fellowship Hall.  The ELDER TEAM is sponsoring this week’s Fellowship Meal with a Baked Potato DINNER.

RESURRECTION’S TRADITIONAL “COOKIE WALK”, sponsored by the Women in God’s Service (WIGS) will be held TODAY Sunday, December 16th between the services in the Fellowship Hall. The cost is $8.00 per pound. Homemade cookies are also needed, so don’t hesitate to bring some in to share.  All monies raised will go to support the many outreach and service projects of WIGS.

HOLIDAY GIFT CARDS: support the LYFR (Lutheran Youth Fellowship, Resurrection) while you shop:  Gift Cards will be available for immediate purchase Today, December 16th. Gift cards purchased can be used for gas, groceries, restaurants, movies, iTunes, amazon.com, etc. for full face value and the LYFR can earn up to 15% on each purchase.  This directly supports the National Youth Gathering & other youth activities. THE NEW 2019 FLOWER CHART IS NOW AVAILABLE: Please consider a gift to the Altar flower Ministry. Choose a date to honor or remember a special occasion. Your gift will be acknowledged in the Announcements in the Sunday Bulletin. The cost is $25.00 per bouquet.  Make your check payable to Resurrection Lutheran Church and put it in a Flower Fund envelope and then in the box outside the church office door.  You may pick up your flowers after the Late Service, but please: return the white cup to the sacristy the next Sunday.  If flowers are not picked up by Tuesday morning they will be delivered to a homebound member.

PORTALS OF PRAYER: The January – March edition of this excellent devotional booklet is available at the Ushers’ Desk in the narthex.  Please ask an Usher for a copy as you leave this morning.  Why not take two copies and share one with a friend!

THE 2019 OFFERING ENVELOPES have been placed in front of the “Faith to Grow” Quilt in the main hallway, and you are invited to pick yours up today.  If a set of offering envelopes is not labeled with your name, and you would like a set, please jot your name on the sheet provided and a set will be assigned to you and placed and placed on the table. THANK YOU!

ANY FINANCIAL GIFTS TO BE CREDITED TO THE YEAR 2018 MUST BE RECEIVED BY THE CHURCH OFFICE NO LATER THAN NOON, SUNDAY, DECEMBER 30th.   ALL GIFTS RECEIVED AFTER THAT WILL BE CREDITED TO 2019 AS PER IRS GUIDELINES.

PLEASE – YOUR HELP IS NEEDEDDrinks and food should be consumed in the Fellowship Hall ONLY, and not taken to other parts of the building.  PARENTS: please help your children understand this, as the Youth Room has been particularly affected!  Also, should a mess be made, PLEASE CLEAN IT UP SO OTHERS DO NOT HAVE TO DO IT!  Thank you for your cooperation!

PENINSULA RESCUE MISSION continues to share Hope, making a difference for the Lord!  You can support this ministry with donations of nonperishable food and household supplies that you might use in your own home.  In December, they are specifically requesting donations of deodorant, baseball caps and work gloves. Please place your donation in the Peninsula Rescue Mission bin in the church office lobby.

LINK is in need of the following for P.O.R.T. (People Offering Resources Together) SEASON (a ministry to the homeless and hungry on the Peninsula); men’s sweaters – all sizes, hats, gloves, shoes/boots, jeans and thick trousers/slacks, thick jackets, deodorant and toothpaste and toothbrushes.  Place your donations in the PORT BOX in the church office lobby.  THANK YOU!

AN ADVENT – CHRISTMAS “SHARING” IDEA: Share some homemade baked goods with close friends, co-workers or neighbors, and invite them to one of the Christmas Eve Services at Resurrection (either 6:00 PM or 9:00 PM)More people are open to church services around Christmas than any other time! 

CHRISTMAS  WORSHIP  AT  RESURRECTION  +

  • RESURRECTION LUTHERAN CHURCH & SCHOOL offers two Christmas Eve Worship Services, Monday December 24th.
  • 6:00 PMThe “Christmas Eve Family Service,” with Readings, Carols, Communion and special Choir music, along with traditional carols of Christmas. Nursery services are provided.
  • 9:00 PMThe “CHRIST-MASS” – a traditional Christmas Eve Service with special Choir & organ music, the Christmas Readings, Carols, communion and candles. (a nursery not provided)
  • Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25th: Gather with your parish family on Christmas Day at 10:00 AM, as we praise God for the gift of His Son! Let’s remember the reason for the season – Jesus Christ, the Savior of the world, has come! (a nursery is not provided)
  • Sunday, December 30th, the Christmas Celebration continues, Both the Early (8:00 AM) and the Late (11:00 AM) Services will be held, but there is no Sunday School or Adult Classes that day.

DE-DECORATING THE CHURCH (“Taking Down the Greens”) . . . what goes up must come down! “Taking Down the Greens” will take place Saturday, January 9th, starting at 9:15 AM.   The Men’s Fellowship Group invites all to their monthly breakfast that morning.  Many hands will make packing up our Christmas decorations an easy task!

PRAYERS FOR RESURRCTION’S TRANSITION will be held immediately after both services, as the Elder Team leads a short (5-10 minute) prayer at the altar. We will be asking God’s guidance and comfort during this pastoral transition period.  All are welcome!
